Occupy Wall Street

WePay and Occupy Wall Street

WePay was formed out of our passion to help the average person achieve their dreams and goals. So we always get a sense of satisfaction when folks use WePay to collect money for a passionate event like Occupy Wall Street.

As you may know, the movement has spread across not only the nation but the world. The protesters needed a way to collect money to aid their goal to change the world. Of course, part of their message is against “big business,” so they couldn’t exactly go through the banks. That’s where we came in!

So far, the Occupation protesters have raised over $100,000  through different fund drives. One was so successful it raised double the goal! In all, we have over 200 “occupy themed” campaigns, for protests across the land.

WePay Co-Founder Rich Aberman was even interviewed by the local NBC affiliate about our unofficial involvement with Occupy Wall Street, and there was even an extended piece on CNN. As our Director of Marketing Julia Kung says, WePay is strictly apolitical, but we understand the frustration with large corporations and big banks. And the folks out on the streets have a passion, and we’re glad we can support it!

Interesting considering your CEO is a former wallstreet fledgling. How hypocritical.

    Hi Interesting,
It’s worth noting that Bill left Wall Street to found a company that deeply cares about its customers and the 30 people that it now employs, in addition to providing a service that solves real problems for people that desperately need it.

Hi Julia. I’m sure Bill did so out of the goodness of his heart and not to go IPO and become one of those “1%” the wallstreeters are protesting. If the protestors had any sense about them they would see WePay is representing the very thing they are protesting against. Your company is just a wannabe fat cat hiding behind a facade. Btw if Bill has something to say he can blog right? It’s really easy. Or is he “above that” at his level.
