WePay New Design

Update on WePay Site Status

Last night WePay, among others, was the target of a denial of service (DOS) attack that, at its peak, sent over one million requests per second to our servers. The attack affected the availability of our service intermittently over the last 24 hours.

WePay is a certified Level 1 PCI Compliant Service Provider, and keeping your data safe is our top priority. No user data was compromised before, during, or after the attack.

DOS attacks are intended to make websites unavailable to their customers. While the motivation for this attack is unknown, it is our deepest regret that many of our customers were unable to accept payments during that time. For that, we are deeply sorry.

Thousands of businesses and individuals depend on WePay – from donations for medical care to payments for goods and services. We take that responsibility very seriously. We have spent the past 24 hours working with our hosting provider to implement a specialized DOS prevention solution that will help protect WePay against future attacks.
